AWG - Airspace Working Group

 

The Airspace Working Group (AWG) is established depending of the Operational Coordination Committee (OCC) and is responsible for identification, harmonization and development of airspace structure taking into account civil and military air traffic flows, European route network, Network Manager (NM) and Performance Plan at FAB level, ensuring optimum airspace utilization and military mission effectiveness in the application of the FUA concept.

 

The AWG shall be composed by:

  • One (1) representative of the en-route ATS provider of each Contracting State; and
  • One (1) military representative of each Contracting State.

 

The following tasks, but not limited to, are responsibility of the AWG:

 

  • Identification, harmonization and development of airspace structure in consistency with civil and military air traffic flows, European route network, Network Manager (NM) and Performance Plan at FAB level;
  • Ensuring optimum airspace utilization and military mission effectiveness in the application of the FUA concept, facilitating civil-military coordination, including the study of the establishment of cross-border areas and accomplishment of the arrangements for the delegation of ATS between air traffic service providers;
  • Ensure operational coordination between SW FAB ANSP (s) and ANSP(s) of neighbouring FAB/States, including the elaboration of operational written agreements of relevance for the provision of ANS and Operational Air Traffic Transit Service (OATTS);
  • Cooperation in the field of Aeronautical Information Service (AIS);
  • Others that will be assigned by OB/OCC or identified by the AWG during the development of assigned tasks.

 

In order to achieve these tasks the AWG will engage, support, cooperate and deal with  the Network Manager in Cooperative Decision-Making (CDM), Network Strategic Plan, Network Management Performance Plan, Network Operations Plan (NOP), with other SWFAB working groups in areas of common interest, if necessary, as well as any other Group that will be identified as necessary.
